Not the best quality video - but I took this today near my house. It's a bear cub in a tree by Greenough Park and the Rattlesnake Creek. MT FWP tranquilized the cub and is taking it to a bear orphanage in Helena to wait out the winter before being reintroduced to the wild next year. Enjoy!

I went on a rush of making 16x16 feed icons again.  I figure I should share the file I made to identify Missoula related things such as this community.  I put it in the global_head as well.  LJ doesn't have an option to upload a favicon.ico, but a link tag works in some browsers.  Save and use at your leisure.

Are you a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins? If so you should be aware that their first album since 2000 is to be released this July! I think it would be a blast if some hardcore pumpkin fans from around here got together for a celebration/gathering when it comes out. If you are a fan or you know someone who is, introduce yourself-and if there is any interest, I'll see about setting something up in July. Rock on!

Well we are back home again after 4 days in Missoula.

Thanks for all your helpful advise, we ended up spending a lot of time on the road, so we didn't get to check out all that was offered to see. The kids got to spend an afternoon at the Natural History Museum. They really enjoyed that and we were surprised at the low price. We also got to spend some time at Canyon Park in Hamilton. That is a very nice play park. As nice as any thing I have seen in Portland or any where really.

Overall the trip was very fruitful and productive. My spouse, who had never really been exposed to MT, was ready to move by the end of the trip. A phase that came up more than once was 'we will get to do that when we move here'. So I am guessing that she is good with that.

Thanks again for all your ideas and encouragement.

So we are coming to Missoula next weekend. Is there anything that we NEED to see. I have a list of things that I want to see, but what I don't know is what is going on currently and what I will have a chance to take advantage of. We is myself, my beautiful spouse, and our 2.0 kids (9 yos, 4yod). We will be visiting Missoula, Hamilton and Great Falls (where I went to elementary school). My wife hasn't visited MT and needs to get a feel for it before we commit to moving our family here in the next 9 - 12 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone! I am currently a student at the University of Portland, but am looking to transfer. Has anyone had any experience transferring to UM? Also, I'm an English major--any insights to the English program there? Thanks in advance.

does anyone here have an interest in the "broadway diet" problem?  i'm asking b/c the political back-and-forth is getting pretty stupid, and i'm considering talking at the next meeting thing.

Some notable people have spent days around here according to the Missoulian. (the full article here) A couple people I didn't know about: Steve Albini and David Lynch. I'm fans of both, especially Albini's earlier work.

Ive made all of you maintainers for the group. I dont live in missoula anymore, so the community really does not matter to me anymore. I now live in washington state. So you guys are now in charge.
